Dear Sumatra, I think

Dear Sumatra,

I think I was yours

Since the day I was born.

Though Java is where I started,

I don’t think we’ll ever be parted.

I have cried, cheered, screamed, roared, and hollered

Everywhere from the rooftops, the rivers, and mountains.

There have been situations that range from great to awkward,

But I will never forget my mighty companions.

Sister, brothers, father, and mother;

They have seen me turn every color

And have held me when I am smaller.

Sumatra you are not my mainland,

But you will forever be my island.
